Retailers at the heritage listed Queen Street Mall shopping galleria, Brisbane Arcade, have teamed up to assist in raising funds for the Bushfire Appeal.

An initiative of Con Calogerakis, owner of Kosta Gold and Diamonds on the gallery level, among the other stores that will donate 10% of their sales for the next month (until 16 March) to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund are Italia Boutique, Ashley Douglas and Zash Hair Design.

Renowned for their personal service, the stores are all small owner-operator businesses and like many Australians, the store owners are keen to assist in helping the families affected by the Victorian bushfires in any way they can.

Celebrating its 85th anniversary this year, Brisbane Arcade runs from the Queen Street Mall through to Adelaide Street and consists of 50 retailers, the majority of which are home-grown Brisbane businesses.

Brisbane Arcade was built in 1923 for Dr James Mayne and his sister Miss Mary Emelia Mayne and continues to be operated today in its original form by the Trustees of the siblings’ estate with proceeds from the trust support the University of Queensland Medical School and medical research.
